WE USE ONLY ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY Cleaning products to clean & press your garments. Our new state of the art Drycleaning Machine was installed just days prior to the Cover-19 Shutdown.
Wetcleaning is a safe effective way to clean some dryclean only garments that need the power of water to get clean. Unlike washing we can control agitation, water temperature, timing of process and drying temperatures. The special formulation of cleaners allows us to clean in cooler water. The result is savings on heating water and a 60% savings on water consumption.
Recently the 30 year old electric shirt press was replaced with a high efficiency steam powered shirt press. The result reduces the electricity consumption considerably with only moderate increase in natural gas consumption.
Our staff has also taken an interest in reducing and the blue recycling box at the lunch counter now gets filled up on a weekly basis.
Recycling of hangars is another important step in reducing the carbon footprint. We changed from using what is called strut hangars. These hangars are padded for hanging pants but can only be used once. Going to a removable pant guard allows us to reuse the hangar over and over again by just replacing the pant guard when needed. Therefore we encourage our customers to return their hangars and we are currently receiving 30% of them back. This is a number we think we can improve on with more education to the customer.
Biodegradable poly bags is the newest practice that we have adopted. Ordinary poly bags used to keep your clothes clean on their way home, usually end up in the landfill where they could take up to 5 years to break down. The new biodegradable poly is expected to break down within 6 months.
All of our lights have been replaced with high efficiency T8 bulbs.
